Relay for Home Assistant
Check sensors, control lights and run scripts from a simple dashboard. Relay works behind CGNAT, with no port forwarding or VPN required.
5 entities free · No credit card required · No time limit
Free Relay checks for updates and your actions once a minute. A slow connection can take longer.

Check the temperature, see whether a door is open or turn off a light. Each reading shows when it was last updated.
Home Assistant starts the connection over outbound HTTPS. You don’t need a public IP address or an incoming router port.
Choose your entities and organize them by room. We create the dashboard, ready to open in your browser.
Four steps to get connected
We generate both for your selected entities. No custom integration is required.
Follow the step-by-step setup guide →Create your free account and select up to 5 entities, such as lights, sensors, switches or scripts.
Add the generated block to configuration.yaml, following the guide if you already have a REST command section. Check the YAML and reload the REST commands.
Create or edit the automation, choose Edit in YAML, paste the generated code and save.
Return to Relay setup and check for an update. Open your dashboard when your readings arrive.
Paid plans add a personal subdomain, separate dashboard logins for your household, and outage and recovery emails.

Relay is a separate dashboard for selected entities. For your existing Home Assistant interface, cameras, Home Assistant’s full history or a Companion app server address, explore Proxy.
See temperature and other sensor trends: 24 hours of history on Free Relay, or 7 days on paid Relay. Start or pause a vacuum and send it back to its dock. Enable lock and cover controls in setup when you want to use them.
Home Assistant sends the selected entity states and checks for requested actions over outbound HTTPS. A requested action waits for the next successful check; collection does not guarantee the device has responded. Check the reported state to confirm the result.
Keep Home Assistant running and connected to the internet. If updates stop, Relay shows the saved readings and when they were received. Requests expire after five minutes if Home Assistant has not collected them. Read the dashboard status guide.
Yes. Upgrading Free Relay with PayPal keeps your dashboard, selected entities, rooms and connection token. Your current automation keeps working until you update it.
To change entities or use a faster plan interval, copy the updated automation from Relay setup and replace the same automation in Home Assistant’s YAML editor. No configuration-file changes or restart needed.
Standard includes 1 additional dashboard user; Large includes 4. Each person has their own login and can use the dashboard’s enabled controls. Only you manage setup, people and billing.
Paid Relay plans include an email after at least 10 minutes without an update and another when updates resume. Manage outage and recovery emails in your connection settings. Email delivery can take longer; these checks monitor the connection, not each device.
Connect your own Home Assistant. No credit card required. No time limit.
A short recording of the real Relay interface with simulated devices. Standard Relay checks every 15 seconds; Free Relay checks every 60 seconds. Connection delays can make it take longer.
We turn off a lamp. Its switch stays on while the request waits, then Home Assistant collects it. The switch changes to off only after a new reading confirms it. Then we find the temperature chart and explore curtain and vacuum controls.
