Two ways to connect

Relay or Proxy?

Relay keeps everyday controls simple.

Choose the devices and readings you want on a separate dashboard. Add the generated YAML and automation to Home Assistant, and follow the setup guide. No router changes needed.

Choose Relay if you want everyday controls without router setup. It works with a changing IP, 4G/5G home internet and providers that share IP addresses or block incoming connections, as long as Home Assistant can connect to our service.

Relay does not include your full Home Assistant interface, cameras, Home Assistant’s full history or a Companion app server address.

Proxy opens the Home Assistant you know.

Use your existing dashboards and settings at an address like yourhome.myhomeassistant.top. Sign in with your usual Home Assistant account.

Choose Proxy if you need the full interface and can set up port forwarding restricted to our server. Your home needs a reachable public IPv4 address. It can be fixed or changing; use a DDNS hostname or our IP-update automation if it changes.

Proxy cannot work behind CGNAT or with all incoming ports closed. Check your connection with a free account before buying. No Home Assistant access token is needed.

What if your internet makes remote access difficult?

Your IP address changes

Relay handles this automatically. You don’t need to buy a fixed IP. Proxy also works, but needs a DDNS hostname or our IP-update automation to keep track of your address.

You use mobile internet or a shared IP

Relay connects out from home. It works on 4G/5G and with shared provider addresses (CGNAT), provided Home Assistant can reach our service. Proxy needs incoming access, which many mobile and shared-IP connections don’t allow.

Your connection drops or slows down

Relay keeps the last readings visible and marks them as out of date. The next successful update refreshes them. Slow internet delays updates and actions; neither Relay nor Proxy can control an offline home. Uncollected Relay requests expire after five minutes.

Keep Home Assistant running and connected to the internet. A slow connection can delay Relay updates and actions. Proxy is a separate product from Relay and has connection and traffic limits. A successful connection test does not guarantee every Home Assistant feature will work.

Can I upgrade Free Relay later?

Yes. Choose Upgrade Relay while signed in. After payment, your dashboard, selected entities, rooms and token stay in place.

Copy the updated automation from Relay setup and replace the same automation in Home Assistant’s YAML editor to use faster updates or add entities. No configuration-file changes or restart needed. Your current automation keeps working until you update it.

What counts as an entity?

Each selected control or reading counts as one entity. A smart plug with a switch and a power sensor uses 2 entities if you select both.

You can upgrade for faster updates even if you only use a few entities. Relay supports up to 200 entities per plan.

Who can use my Relay dashboard?

Standard includes 1 additional dashboard user; Large includes 4. Each person has their own login and can use your dashboard’s enabled controls. Only you manage setup, people and billing.

How quickly do Relay controls respond?

Home Assistant collects requests at the next successful scheduled check: every 60 seconds on Free, 15 seconds on Standard or 10 seconds on Large. A slow connection or device can add a delay.

Check the device’s reported state to see whether an action succeeded. Requests expire after five minutes if Home Assistant has not collected them.

How do outage alerts work?

Paid plans include outage and recovery emails. Manage alerts for each connection in your account. Free Relay does not include them.

We check when Relay last sent an update, or test the Proxy connection about once a minute. After at least 10 minutes of a problem, we send an outage email. We send another when the connection recovers.

Email delivery can take longer. These checks monitor the connection, not every feature or device.

How is my Relay data handled?

Our service receives and stores your selected readings and handles requested actions. Keep your account password and Relay connection token private. Read the privacy information.

How do billing and cancellation work?

Paid subscriptions are billed annually and renew automatically. Cancel renewal anytime from Billing in your account or through PayPal. You’ll keep access until the end of your paid period.

Cancelling renewal does not issue a refund. See cancellation and refund terms.

You can keep separate Relay and Proxy plans in one account. Each paid plan includes one available personal subdomain. Read the terms and privacy information, including resource limits, before purchasing.
